Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued to work on her exam packet. I clarified one of the problems that she had questions on. Then we continued to work on the no calculator part of the exam. We looked over all the rest of the packet and then we began the calculator (word problems) part of the exam. We did two of those problems and I will work with her again tomorrow."
"I helped the student review her homework and we looked at a couple problems that the teacher said she did not need to do but I felt she was capable of. After that we reviewed for her test on Monday. She seemed like she understood the review problems and was confident about her test."
"Student needed to practice for an upcoming quiz over solving differential equations. She had no trouble at all with the core concept, but she made lots of small mistakes involving neglected negative signs and sloppy notation; I reminded her several times to double-check both. We also went over some more of her extra problem-solving material, hitting no snags at all until the final problem, an unusually complicated related-rates model."
"We are wrapping up the sequences and series parts. The student is quite familiar with all the concepts in this session. We are covering finding sequence terms, partial sum and infinite sum of series, and summation notations."
"We went over instantaneous velocity and instantaneous rate of change. The student was having trouble with it when we began. After a walk through of a few examples, she understood the concepts much better."
"The student and I spent most of the session going over continuity, relative minimum/ maximum, absolute minimum/ maximum, and concavity of functions. These topics included problems that dove into the first and second derivative, curvature of complex graphs, and revisited some algebra 2 tricks. He understands the basic principles very well and is a quick learner. The more problems he does, the better he gets in the class. If he completes all his homework problems and is able to reiterate the three tests we covered today (1st derivative, 2nd derivative, and concavity tests), I am confident he will do well on his test next week."
