"We covered applications of stoichiometry and solutions, as well as neutralization reactions and it's application with stoichiometry. After working on chemistry, we went over some geometry, specifically talking about ratios for similar polygons. For his chemistry, I told him to make sure that the overall chemical reaction equation is balanced when doing his calculations."
"The student and I discussed stoichiometry in our last session. She said she was having a little bit of trouble with it in class so we read a few pages for background in the text book I brought on how to calculate molar mass and its units. After that we approached several problems that started out simple but got harder. I told her to always ask herself two questions when given a problem: What units have they given me already and what unit do they want at the end? That will help her start solving the question and figure out the necessary steps to get to the end. After that, it's just punching it into the calculator. We did grams to moles, grams to grams, grams to formula units/particles, etc. By the end of the session she grasped the concept very well. She won't be tested on this for awhile according to her schedule, so there will be plenty of time to review. She has plenty of practice questions."
"We reviewed two binders full of detailed outlines of each chapter of the textbook, that the student is using for the Bio AP test that is coming in a couple of months."
