Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a final exam tomorrow, so we conducted a review. We went through his most recent test and a practice exam and talked about each question he missed in detail. He asked questions regarding binomial distribution questions and wanted to review z-score problems. We talked about test-taking strategies for the free-response sections of the test."
"We review the related rates and optimization problems, by randomly choosing exercises from his textbook. He performed rather well, with just occasional reminders and assistance from me, even when I picked the challenging problems. We also tried to cover topics as diverse as possible, so he should perform well for such problems. As long as he doesn't panic in the test, he should get a great grade."
"The student and I reviewed chapter 1 and 2 for her final, and also went through half of her study guide and worked through some of more difficult problems. This included matrices, functions, quadratic functions, and general problem solving."
"By today's session the student had completed some of her final exam review packet. I helped her work through some problems she hadn't understood, covering such topics as finding the equation of a line normal to a curve at a particular point, applying limits to vertical and horizontal asymptote problems, and complex derivation problems."
"During our session, the student and I reviewed how to find the area of a triangle, using three squares whose corners met. She was able to find the area of a right triangle with ease; however, obtuse triangles gave her some trouble. We reviewed the Pythagorean theorem, using it to find the area of the squares that were on an angle. We used the area to find the side lengths of the squares, and therefore, the side lengths of the triangle, as well. We did several practice problems, and she seemed to begin to understand the concept."
"We reviewed the regression and prediction techniques we worked on last time and did questions from test review in preparation for the test tomorrow."
