Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over what she missed in class that day since she was making up a test she had missed. She seems to have a much better understanding of the unit circle, which helps her understand the trig functions."
"The student and I went over the test he took two weeks ago. The test covered statistics topics including normal distribution, z-scores, z-table usage, margin of error, and binomial distribution. He has a very good understanding of all the topics, and should do very well on his make-up test tomorrow."
"Reviewed chemistry concepts: electronegativity, polar bonds, Lewis dot diagrams for covalent bonds in molecules and ions, VSEPR theory, 3-D geometries of bonds and molecules in space and hybridization of bonding orbitals."
"Today I introduced multiplication to the student. He made arrays for the #12. He found out all the ways to group counters into a square/rectangle. He also reviewed his doubles and near doubles. Lastly, we reviewed sums of #'s between 1 and 20. He will be making a book of arrays over the next couple of weeks."
"During this session we reviewed the following topics in chemistry: wavelength, frequency, period, energy change, ions, ionization energy and electron affinity. In algebra 2 we focused on factoring to prepare for an upcoming test."
"The student took a full-length practice test since our last meeting. It seems like she is on the right track!! She has excellent scores in the sciences! She is mostly concerned with PAT (and to some extent QR). We went over some of the tricky questions from her practice exam, focusing mainly on keyhole and top-front-end. I gave her a number of pointers on how to approach questions, to what extent you need to visualize and incorporate information, and some general test-taking strategies. We also talked a bit about personal statements and LOR's."
