Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on a take home re-test that focused on angles and parallel lines. The student understood the material fairly well. It was a good session."
"We went over chapters 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 and their notes. We went over vertical angles, and she learned new vocabulary and formulas."
"We worked on understanding relationships between angles a and using that to solve for angles. We also reviewed for his algebra test in November."
"Student 1 has a quiz on parallelograms and their diagonals on Wednesday, so we went over a study packet and homework. Having her think of parallelograms as mirror reflections helped her see when things were congruent versus when they were not. I also broke things down into wholes and parts, and that was a tougher concept to link to algebra. She seemed to get it towards the end, but we will continue to review it. She said she felt better about the parallelograms by the end of the session. Student 2 has already moved beyond this section and is working with coordinate geometry now. She says she feels good about this topic."
"Today the student worked on a chemistry lab project that he has to present on. He had to determine what was his unknown solution by performing chemical reactions. We created a table of possible chemical reactions that could occur with each added substance, and then listed if a physical reaction occurred or not. Then, we created a diagram of how he should create his slideshow presentation."
"The student and I went over her geometry homework. It was review of algebra concepts. She had completed the homework but wanted to me to go over it and answer a few questions. She had made a few mistakes but showed that she understood the material very well. After geometry homework, we worked through some ACT Math practice problems. Along with working on specific problems, I talked about some strategies to keep in mind."
