Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed a book report assignment. We read the story together and then discussed some of the big ideas. The student articulated his thoughts well and, when we started writing, was really taking his time, which resulted in clear sentences. Though there were still some grammar errors, for the most part, he was writing slowly and correctly. As always, he was attentive and respectful."
"The student and I went through the first draft of his research paper, carefully editing and rewriting the paper line by line. We worked on making sure that each sentence was working toward proving the point he was making, switching up sentence structures, and using a wide vocabulary throughout the paper. We got through the intro paragraph, as well as the first and second body paragraphs. Next session we are going to work on the final body paragraph, conclusion, and finally take a last pass through to make sure that everything is polished and ready to submit. The session went very well, and I'm looking forward to meeting again next week."
"For the first half of the session, we worked on making an outline for a persuasive essay. We worked on giving evidence that fit the main idea of each paragraph and also explaining why it fit. We then went on to reviewing his past work in the writing assignment. We reviewed the types of sentences and elongating the sentences he wrote. He seemed to have a better understanding after class."
