Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Went over point slope form, how to find the y-intercept, what the slope is, and how to graph an equation. We also completed the Spanish homework and double checked math."
"We covered the distributive property and mathematics problems. We will continue to focus on word problems."
"The student had a practice test to review before a test coming up in class this week. She was to find the equation to a line, given a point, and a slope, and then rewrite the equation into Standard Form, with only positive leading integers, which she did expertly. Then, she was asked to create the equation of a line from a table of life expectancy data, as a function of birth year. We discussed how to find a line of best fit, how to estimate a linear line in the data without calculating, and then how to find the equation of the line by first finding the slope, then calculating the y-intercept, and working backwards to devise the equation from slope-intercept form. Overall it was a great session!"
"For this session, the student completed the practice test for the reading portion of the state assessment testing, which he will be taking at school next week. He did a great job. He needed some help with comprehension questions at first, then picked up the concept. He did well with questions from auditory passages and vocabulary questions. Good luck!"
"Today, we reviewed the student's homework for Thursday and Friday on time. When given a clock face on the second set of problems, it was easier for him to count time, so we revisited the number line problems with the help of the clock face. We did not include additional strategies but discussed using additional practice from the Spectrum Math series that his mother suggested."
"The student and I went over some workbook pages for punctuation, capitalization, and fractions. She struggles with punctuation, so next week I will bring some punctuation worksheets to work on. She is doing well with reading and fractions."
