"We finished covering topic 2 and started topic 3. This included the electromagnetic spectrum, atomic orbitals, electron arrangements and then trends in the periodic table. The student understands the material deeply but needs to practice with questions tailored to the exam because most of her class is taking the AP exam. I've sent her the topic 2 practice questions so she can familiarize herself with a different style of questions."
"The student and I discussed his homework assignment material on gas laws including Boyle's Law, Charles's Law, the combined gas law and the ideal gas law. His class had only covered Boyle's, but we built off of those concepts to relate constant pressure to volume and temperature. He found this section to be very simplistic and did exceptionally well answering all of his homework problems. We moved onto the ideal gas law, where we had a bit more conversions prior to using the ideal gas equation and had to do a bit more critical thinking to answer these problems. He got really familiar with his units for pressure, volume, density, temperature and the ideal gas constant. We reviewed his entire homework packet, due when the class finishes these sections, so he is ahead of his class by about a week."
"We covered redox reactions, orbitals, quantum levels, redox rules, assigning oxidation numbers. I gave the student practice problems, and he will email me if he has problems."
