Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Met with the student for the first time. We went over some basic ideas of government and economics. It looks like the assessment test and the curriculum for 6th and 7th grade focuses on understanding geography, political setups, religions, and modern issues as well as history. I think that I will try to approach this one region at a time over the course of our sessions."
" During today's session we mainly worked on her multiplication worksheet. She got several of the answers correct, she just wrote the numbers backwards. The answers that she got wrong, we corrected using the white board: 7x7, 7x6, 9x7, and 12x12. She knows her 3's and 2's. We completed our session by reading "This Old Man"."
"The student and I reviewed homework that focused on converting fractions to decimals and percentages. The student was successful with her homework. After we finished reviewing homework, we worked on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing using decimals."
"In this session, I helped both students with their lab reports on the weight of electrons. Then we worked ahead and completed their next two homework sets. The first covered the number of particles in a mole, so I taught them about Avogadro's number. In the next homework session, we covered how to calculate the number of moles based on the weight of an element using the molar mass."
"The student was struggling with trig identities, so we practiced some problems involving the use of common trig identities and how to identify and use them. Then, I went back to the first math practice exam and reviewed selected problems and the best strategies to use on each. I also showed him how to use her calculator to her advantage (little things that go a long way like the improper fraction converter and how to use the insert button)."
"We covered some topics, including meeting, schedule, stating your opinion, tourist attractions, usage of time words, hobbies, and sensory verbs. The student is taking notes and following my instructions to practice the pronouns. The homework it to review the video we watched and follow the notes to practice the sentence structure."
