"The student and I covered Algebra, Geometry, basic test information, and the science section of the test. Reading is, as usual, a big limiting factor. The good news is once I saw him doing the math at the level of his class he was good at it. The problem of course is that most of the math problems he encounters on the ACT are phrased as paragraphs, not what he's accustomed to. I also covered some basic strategies, though the focus of my tutoring is still going to be math content and reading ability. I have confidence his score will increase."
"The student and I worked on her college admissions essays, and overall, I'm very pleased with her progress. We spent a great deal of time editing her essay on her essay and then we spent time working on her Common Application essay, which had been giving her some trouble. Eventually, we decided that addressing a different prompt would be better. "
"Chemistry- We went over some topics on the basics of organic chemistry and reviewed questions she missed on old tests. Physics - We started some introductory concepts in physics - motion, acceleration, Newton's Laws of Motion."
"Today the student and I worked on her project for African American Lit. She researched her assigned poet and I reviewed the bio that she wrote. We also did more work for her health/science class writing up reports for different sports."
"We went over special right triangles (45/45 & 30/60) and their relation to the trigonometric functions. We then reviewed the unit circle and its connection with the previous material. The student didn't have any real trouble understanding anything I showed him. We also performed corrections from his last test (again no problems understanding the material)."
"The student did really well today. She handled our continued work with the Latin reflexive pronoun/adjectives with ease and definitely demonstrated a better command of the material by the end of the hour than at the beginning."
