Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I began reviewing previous homework and topics in review for his final exam. We covered: determining if a function was one-to-one using the horizontal line test; determining if a function was linear; adding/subtracting function; different equations for lines; graphing function; and determining the domain and range of a function."
"We finished reviewing the topics covered in Lesson 2.09, and the student completed the quiz for 2.09. This lesson was a continuation of logarithmic functions, their properties, and how to solve logarithmic equations. I helped him with the new topic at hand. We then went over the slides for Lesson 2.10, which covered graphing of logarithmic functions both by hand and using the calculator. He completed the quiz for 2.10. Tomorrow, we will go through Lesson 2.11."
"We finished the remainder of the outlined topics which included long and synthetic division overview, point slope and general line formula overview, and concentration on methods to solving second degree polynomials. We also reviewed over the first session material. I am confident in her calculating abilities. She had her final on the 11th this morning and said she felt she did good."
"Today we reviewed for next week's semester exams. We first covered chapter 1 and asked if there was anything he would like to focus on. The student told me he would like to review absolute equations and inequalities. I assisted him with absolute value inequalities by asking him to draw linear graph, which would help him picture absolute value equations a lot easier. We covered part of chapter 2 as he wanted to review how to graph linear inequalities. I assigned him a few practice problems for chapter 1 and 2."
"We discussed properties of functions and their associated derivatives. The student seemed challenged a little bit tonight with how functions and their derivatives relate to each other. Next time we meet we will work on completing his understanding on these topics."
"The majority of the things we covered today dealt with Logarithms. The student said she had never used logarithms before, so we talked awhile about what they do and how to work with them in equations. We talked about the properties of logarithms as she worked through some of the problems on her homework and quiz."
