Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was my first tutoring session with the student, so we spent a good amount of the session talking about general techniques and tricks for solving physics problems, such as utilizing a formula sheet and taking advantage of dimensional analysis when appropriate. She is currently working on a project for her physics class where she needs to create a Rube Goldberg machine utilizing at least 5 different simple machines, and we spent roughly half the session working on getting a basic framework for that project. Her mother showed me some of her grades from earlier in the semester so that I can bring practice problems in the subjects she struggled with to our next session."
"We covered Physics today. We went over momentum and impulse. We then went over oscillations and simple harmonic motion of springs and pendulums. We then looked at Waves and standing waves."
"We covered moment of inertia formulae for spheres, hoops and solid cylinders. We worked on computing relative bottom of hill speeds using conservation of energy, including potential and both types of kinetic: translational and rotational. I gave advice on common mistakes involving radius vs diameter, centimeter vs meter, and omission of units."
