"Reviewed notes and practiced some problems involving Synthetic Division and Polynomials. Finished the Practice Test."
"The student and I continued working on her online algebra class. We worked on graphing functions (given the points or the pattern) as well as creating t tables for quadratic functions. The student thought she was struggling with the t tables, but she must have just been making small errors since there are so many places to make them. When we went through the problem slowly, she got it right the first try. We also worked a lot on inequalities: graphing them, compound inequalities, and multi-step inequalities. After practice, she's a pro at it now (as long as she takes it slow enough to get every addition correct). We did a little practice of geometric definitions (common sense problems) as well as exponents (negative in particular). Finally, we worked on simplifying complex fractions (fractions over fractions and we needed a least common multiple in order to get rid of the denominator). During this practice, we also did a little factoring out and distributing."
"We worked on the same thing as yesterday, doing practice word problems. She is still struggling with setting up equations from the word problems, so we continued to practice doing that."
"The student got a 100% on her module 9 test. I am so proud of her hard work! Tonight, we worked on a review worksheet on exponent properties. She recalled the information from last session very well. We then got started on module 10, exponential functions. This is a big shift for her because they are very different from linear functions. She just needs more practice to build her confidence."
"Instead of continuing with slope, the student and I discussed percentage. We did a variety of problems both from her math book and ones I made up. With more practice she will understand the material completely."
"The student and I went over biology and algebra. She had her algebra test, so she asked me questions on questions she remembered having trouble with. We also went over her biochemistry lab. I explained that biology is built upon chemistry, so she has to know a bit to get through biology."
