Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered a lot of different kinds of problems in preparation for the student's final exam. We spent a lot of time on limits at the beginning, then moved on to continuity and the definition of a derivative. We revisited writing the equation for a tangent line, role's theorem, the mean value theorem, and implicit differentiation. We ended with related rates. He seemed to remember everything reasonably quickly, he just needed a refresher on some of the material that was covered earlier in the semester."
"We covered limits and differential equations. He wanted a good foundation to begin re-learning. Over the week he will continue practicing limit equations and differential equations before we move on to the next chapter. Overall it was a great session."
"We worked on many more problems for the final. She has a strong grasp of the material. Some chain rule and product rule issues still happen, but much less often. We also looked through the old exam, and the chain rule issues seemed to be the most common type of error."
"The student and I covered volumes of 2 functions using specific shapes such as squares and semicircles using integrals. I spent a great deal of time explaining the method and showed him how to set up these integrals, find the limits of integration, and solve the volume given the particular shape given. He seemed to really understand these concepts at the end of the session."
"We reinforced what we did in the last session, including division, exponents, logarithms, and combining like terms. The student did a nice job in the session and got more used to the methods that solve these problems."
"Today, we reviewed two optimization problems that the student was assigned for homework. Then, we discussed a past assignment on finding the points of inflection and concavity of a function."
