Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The primary focus was preparation for the final. We reviewed his past material and mistakes made. His exam grades have improved exponentially so I have no doubt that his final exam if he studies as promised will get him a high B if not an A in the course. His study habits have been changed for the better."
"We covered power theorems and circle coordinate geometry. She did not understand what the theorems stated so she could not solve the questions. Once she understood the theorems she was able to solve the questions. She also missed a lecture on circle coordinate geometry. After teaching her the topic she was able to solve the problems. She felt confident about the material. She began making connections between the theorems of circles and coordinate circle geometry. She has to finish her home assignment and study the material that we covered today."
"Today, we went over the last of the student's practice tests. In particular, we focused on triangle similarity theorems. Afterwards, we switched over to solid geometry, with a focus on spheres. The student currently has this unit down solid."
"The topics on the practice test were mostly familiar to the student. In general, we spent the most time working on proofs and triangles. We did several practice proofs, reviewing the various shortcuts and when to use them, as well as how to list the steps in a logical sequence. She sometimes struggled to stay focused on the important shapes, especially when there was extraneous information. To aid her with this, we practiced shading in the important shapes and, as always, labeling all given congruent pieces as we read. This worked well, and we will definitely continue using this method."
"The student prepared for a test he has on Tuesday. He seems to have a much better grasp on the material as a whole and seems more confident. He finished up his homework and then started working through practice study guide problems."
"The student and I both reviewed old material to prepare for his upcoming test retakes and went over the new material he is currently learning in class to keep him up to date. We had to once more review supplementary, vertical, corresponding, and alternate interior angles - when we have repeatedly covered these topics in past sessions. I would recommend flash cards or some other method to try and solidify the concepts for him. The student did very well with his new/current material, similar triangles and triple right triangles. He should be well prepared to for his test and I expect to hear that he has done well."
