Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student & I reviewed 1D kinematics and trigonometry, and went over lessons covering projectile motion and relative velocities. He accommodated the new material quickly & easily, and was competent in applying the concepts to the problems we worked on. He is going to work through more problems on the two new concepts on his own, and I am going to prepare a small exam to assess his knowledge prior to moving on to Newton's Laws."
"The student and I worked primarily on rotational kinematics, focusing on problems involving centripetal force at various points in vertical loops. We started by reviewing some questions from a quiz he took earlier in the week and did not do well on, and after working through the problems together, Frank felt that he had a better understanding of that particular type of problem. After working through a couple more rotational motion problems, we moved on to work and conservation of energy. We spent a fair amount of time going over how to compute work using line integrals, and once I explained the basic concepts, he seemed to have no conceptual issues with this kind of problem. For the last bit of today's session, we worked through a problem that combined energy conservation and centripetal force concepts."
"The student's grade in the class has gone from a failing grade to a C+. He scored well on his most recent lab, so we reviewed the questions he did not get correct and then continued to talk about the next assignment."
