Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For this session, we tackled "Sentence Errors." We reviewed some basic concepts like comma usage, subject-verb-agreement, pronouns, and modifiers. Since these are some of the more frequently tested concepts on the SAT, it is important to master these concepts. We also reviewed the SAT essay."
"We mostly focused on ACT reading. We went over a passage together and then I also showed her some various strategies and how I would do it if I was taking the exam as an example. We started going over the math section, though we didn't encounter many problems. Before next session, the student should take one section of a practice test (for instance Math) and then send me a list of problems she got wrong so I can go over them beforehand. Doing more practice tests is a good idea, as well as reviewing study guides, particularly to review the math concepts she already is familiar with."
"Today we covered a wide array of subjects, as the student was able to finish Chapter 9 in the book we have been using. These subjects include the fundamental counting principle, probability concepts and problems (including replacement/no replacement questions and geometric probability), and problems involving rates (with a special focus on two part rate questions, due to their frequent occurence on the SAT). We worked on grasping the fundamental counting principle, so we spent time discussing that concept thoroughly."
