"The student learned how to use the formulas d=rt and c=nr, for distance and cost respectively. She was able to understand the concept and answer word problems related to the equations. We furthered her long division and multiplication skills by including decimals. She we still need to practice independently on the concept. She doesn't know her times tables so we spent some time working with flashcards. In the next 2-3 weeks, I expect her to know most of her times tables if not all. I assigned her some extra practice involving word problems and long division and multiplication of decimals."
"We went over some homework that gave the student trouble, reviewed last lesson's content, and then went over arithmetic and algebra along with general math question approaches. I noticed that many of the times he had the correct answer or was on the right track but was nervous not to make a mistake. I am hoping that as we work through more problems together, he becomes more confident in his problem solving as he is usually going down the correct train of thought."
"The student and I had a very good session. We focused almost exclusively on math. First we reviewed difficult questions from the week's problem sets. Next, we completed a full, timed SAT math section. She is working well within the time constraints, and she can afford to slow down a bit on the first ten problems to avoid simple errors. We reviewed least common factors and differences of squares, among other concepts. I have assigned two more timed math sections for this week. With these, we will uncover more concepts we need to review, and she will gain familiarity with the SAT question wording. I have assigned an additional math problem set on recognizing patterns. We reviewed some common SAT vocabulary words that she will not be able to decipher from the Latin roots. I am very pleased to hear that she applied our strategies on a critical reading practice section and that her score was high."
