Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In our session, we covered a range of topics from the student's homework problems. These include intermolecular forces, bonding geometry, state functions, equilibrium states, naming compounds and enthalpy formation. At this time the student seems confident in many of the topics covered."
"The student did really well for an early morning session on a holiday, so I give him a lot of credit! We worked on the left hand rule. I found some good images online to use to help explain the directions of each finger and each component of Force, Current, and Magnetic Field. He did very well, and we decided each session from now on should start with a few of these types of problems, as repetition is the best way to be able to remember the directions. We also continued to work on the Lorentz Force Law to be able to calculate the magnitude as well as find the direction of the force on a moving charge. Again, he did well, but struggled a bit with remembering all the terminology. I told him I would write up a summary to help him keep it all straight before the next session."
"We continued studying for the student's upcoming developmental final. We reviewed new material, especially the development of the heart and how the cardiovascular system changes pre- and postnatally."
"We reviewed miscellaneous multiple-choice questions from a previous AP Physics exam. The student is doing really good work at both conceptual reasoning and also with quantitative work. We are planning to meet again tomorrow evening, online."
"Reviewed for AP exam. Did some practice multiple choice and looked at some free response questions. Worked through some tutorials online. Focused on the beginning of the year concepts such as projectiles and forces."
"Today we worked on free radical halogenation and aromaticity. The student seemed to pick up both pretty quickly."
