Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I introduced the student to factors of a number. This is a 4th grade Math topic that I wanted her to be ready for. Then we reviewed long division into hundreds and thousands. I reminded her to keep her columns neat during division. We also reviewed how to use mental math when dividing numbers that are divisible and have zeros, like 2400/8."
"Today we reviewed multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, order of operations, exponents, and FOIL method. We began factoring polynomials."
"We finished the student's Summer Math packet. This was our final session. Good luck in the coming year!!"
"The student completed an online homework for math. Then I had her complete an SAT elementary math practice test. I explained some problems using percent and decimals that she did not know."
"We reviewed the student's homework, which covered some simple trig review of solving right triangles and some slightly more involved problems where he had to find the 6 trigonometric functions of an angle given certain information. On the latter problems, he needed to be reminded of the definitions of the 6 trig functions. But I set him straight, and he caught on to these problems quickly. The student finished his homework quickly and accurately. I made up new problems where he had to deduce the quadrant of the angle using given information such as sin x > 0 and cos x < 0. After a bit of review of "All Students Take Calculus," he was fine with those problems. Last, we reviewed trig functions of special angles using the unit circle. This is something he needs more work on. I will cover more of this with him next week."
"We went through the HW that I left for her. I taught the point- slope form and solving systems of equation by substitution. We also reviewed the exponent rules and operations. I left her with some homework regarding exponents and systems of equations."
