Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we drilled limits and L'Hopital's rule. She appears to be making progress and reports improvements in grades on the last exam."
"Covered Chapter 5: Logarithmic Exponential, and Other Transcendental Functions; Did AP Calculus AB Review for Unit 5; Covered Sect. 3.7: Optimization Problems."
"We worked on first and second derivative tests and the chain rule. Then, we went over some missed problems on old tests. We also reviewed the student's physics homework."
"Today we covered differentiation of the natural logarithm function. I tried to make it as easy as I could. The function itself has a simple derivative, but it is easy to nest several chain rules into each problem, and those are a difficulty for the student. However, he did better on them throughout the session."
"We covered difference quotients, finding the domains of functions, compositions of two and three functions, and limits. The student had answers for most of the practice problems we went over, and on the concept of limits he was especially strong. He just needs some practice on algebra skills, such as expanding polynomials; he struggled with them at first but, to me, quickly picked up on the proper method of doing it. He came prepared with both questions and answers, and, given his understanding of the actual concepts behind the calculus, should be successful as long as he brushes up on some of the algebra that is necessary. Overall I was pleased with the session and I hope he found it a great help as well."
"The student did his assignments. Each problem was discussed and explained systematically. We started with operations with rational expressions including complex fractions. After this, we went to discussing about limits of a piecewise function."
