Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We focused on calculating derivatives of functions up to 3rd degree polynomial. The student has grasped the points of exercises and is working on perfecting her skill. The strategy here would be to treat all parts of the problem with equal care and attention, because each part is equally important to the final result. The student has made progress in her understanding of the skills needed to solving problems for the upcoming test."
"The student and I worked on u substitution. We completed his worksheet and did a dozen problems online. I discussed the importance of finding a derivative in one's equation. I also reviewed integrating exponential functions. The student is proficient in arithmetic and calculus. We are focusing on understanding the concepts deeper."
"The student and I worked for an hour, reviewing integral concepts and doing numerous practice problems. We discussed the meaning and idea behind definite integrals and practiced those heavily. She seemed far more comfortable at the end of the session with e's and ln's!"
"In this session, I helped the student with class materials on definite integrals. I first explained the materials from the chapter such as fundamental theorem of calculus with examples. Then, I went over some properties of definite integrals, which she then applied to solving her homework problems. She is improving her problem solving skills and I will help her review for her quiz as well as any material questions she has."
"We reviewed the sum and difference rule for integrals, along with the rule for integrating fractional exponents of the variable, integrating e to the x, and combinations thereof. The student did quite well with all the integrals, occasionally stumbling with the integration of negative fractional powers, but he had rectified this difficulty towards the end of the session."
"We continued with our review for the AP test, going over some of the in class work and some free responses from the test. Simplification was the goal today, figuring out patterns in how to solve problems, and how to use your calculator to shortcut calculations whenever possible."
