Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Yesterday, the student and I went over her homework on fractions that included mixed numbers, which she didn't know how to do, but once I told her she aced it! Then we played a multiplication game with dice. We ended with a worksheet on adding and subtracting fractions and with that we also practiced mixed numbers. She'll finish a multiplication table for next time."
"We spent half of the session going over reading passage strategies and reinforced the importance of using the topic, scope, and purpose for each passage to answer the questions. Then we reviewed the structure for writing the essay and practiced coming up with distinct arguments. Finally, we spent the last half an hour or so practicing some basic algebra and brushing up on rusty topics."
"The student and I had a session working on the English portion of the ACT. We started by going over the different types of questions he would see on the test, including the more common errors in usage/mechanics and rhetorical skills. Once we moved on to practice questions, the student did very well, getting virtually every one right."
