Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the specific techniques that he had consistently gotten wrong on the assigned homework I had given him throughout the week. After working over all problems he had trouble with, we looked at a few geometry problems. It wasn't anything super difficult, but he was able to dabble in the beginning of our trip to geometry."
"Today, we continued working on algebra from packets. Today's topics focused largely on identifying the function shown in a given graph and performing linear interpolation."
"Understanding linear equations, operations with linear equations, solving single variable equations, and solving two variable equations."
"Today, we worked on standard deviation. The student had to finish a worksheet that he started in class. We practiced rereading the instructions and being thorough! The practice problems asked for him to create a histogram, estimate the mean, estimate the standard deviation, and then calculate answers. He practiced using a graphing calculator again to find the standard deviation. We also calculated one problem long-hand, so that he would better understand what the SD formula means. Again, he showed great focus and willingness to put in the work to finish a long, multi-step problem."
"We covered graphs that had asymptotes, solving logarithmic and their inverse equations, and other exponents and log problems. The student has his final, so we went over a thick packet. I feel that we covered decent ground in depth."
"The student and I spent the session reviewing for his high school entrance exam. We focused on geometry problems, and reviewed some of the key geometry formulas that appear on the exam, including area and perimeter of circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles, the Pythagorean theorem, and principles of complementary and supplementary angles. We had a great session, and I wish him the best of luck on his exam!"
