Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We've resumed sessions now that the semester has started. We're going to meet again on Saturday to discuss his Powerpoint project and see if we can't streamline some of his lessons. It's good to be working with the student again."
"The student and I reviewed nuclear physics, magnetism and thermodynamics in light of her comprehensive final exam this upcoming Wednesday. Overall, she's ready for the exam. She needs to practice the "right-hand rule" a little bit more on her own so that she'll be fully confident with it on exam day."
"Today the student and I went over her physics homework. She currently has a B- and is looking to raise her grade to an A-. I think this is definitely within reach."
"We covered: how to write an introduction using who, what, when, where, why and how. We used past lessons in social studies to construct outlines for the introductory paragraph. (eg. Civil War, Reconstruction and The Great Depression). We completed a worksheet on the Great Depression and FDR's policies."
"I reviewed some of the student's work to see what level he is at with his reading. I discussed my methodologies with his mother and came up with some guidelines for our sessions together. She decided she would like to break up our sessions between both reading and Spanish. I talked to her about my approaches in teaching and we came up with an idea of how to incorporate the two subjects into our sessions. I left him with some reading and told him to pick a few phrases he would like to learn for our next session."
"Today, first we finished the student's little writing project about the post office. I used Q & A to recreate the scene so she could really listen and respond. After the dialog, I helped fix and extend the sentences to better form. Then, we recorded her 2 units of dialog in her textbook three times each, so she can practice and listen on her own."
