Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered graphing basics, connecting linear and quadratic equations to the coordinate plane. The student is very open in asking questions. She now understands how to convert the "parent" graph using the information provided in the equation."
"The student and I reviewed some matrix multiplication problems from a previous test. We cleared up some of the nuances of matrix multiplication and how to find the inverse of a matrix. We also reviewed conic sections and polar coordinates."
"The student had a unit assessment coming up, so we continued working through several of her handouts. Most of her struggles came from graphing transformed sinusoidal functions, so we discussed how to approach and solve them in two ways. One, going from a graph to an equation, and vice versa. After we discussed the processes, she was able to work through problems on her own. She also retook a quiz and did very well on it."
"The student's test was the day after this session. We had two more chapters to review together, which included complex numbers, limits, and graphing. She is pretty strong in these chapters, so we finished the problems fairly easily. We spent a lot of time reviewing probability because she isn't very comfortable with that topic."
"Today we looked over the limit definition of a derivative as well as the exponent rule in calculating derivatives given polynomial-based functions. We assessed a multitude of functions to understand the underlying relationship between the growth of a population and its numerical derivative."
"The student and I worked on applied trig. She still has trouble drawing the pictures/diagrams for word problems, but we are working on it. She also needs to review some of the basic geometry theorems. She has a test coming up, so we will have lots of review problems to work through next time we meet."
