Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student's final exam is tomorrow. In this lesson, we went through two past homework assignments and did the practice problems. These included topics such as arccos, Taylor series, L'Hopital's rule, and intermediate value theorem. Then we reviewed second derivatives and concavity. At the end, we practiced integration by doing an estimated sum using trapezoids."
"We went over some more of the concepts and some typical problems today that the student will be finding on her test. We covered several topics, including integration by parts, summation, derivative and integrals of logarithmic and exponential functions. We also went over kinematic equations from physics. I gave him another resource he can use to keep reviewing and practicing the material."
"The student and I reviewed for her semester final today by going over the questions from past tests which had given her the most trouble. I came up with some additional questions in those same veins to reinforce our review, and the student did very well with that extra practice."
"We looked at the student's test, and we covered more than half of it - mainly fundamental theorem of calculus part II, relationships between the graphs of f and f', and applications (mostly with motion along a line)."
"The student and I jumped into stuff involving local and absolute extrema. The concept was totally new to her, so she had trouble getting it at first (like which equation to plug stuff into, etc.), but she got the hang of it! Then we started doing more elaborate versions of those same problems and moved on to second derivatives, including finding inflection points and the second-derivative test for extrema. She's doing well, but is worried about the rest of the class. However, from now until her deadline, we'll meet three more times, which I think is more than enough to get her really competent and confident."
"During this session, the student and I finished his homework from the chapter working with problems on integration and Riemann sums."
