Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This week, I helped the student prepare for an exam in Spanish 2. The subjects we covered were the subjunctive, with a focus on the different forms of expression conveyed by the subjunctive and the various mechanical rules that followed from the use of specific verbs. We also spent a large chunk of time reviewing vocabulary. We also went over some test-taking strategies."
"We continued working with the imperfect tense, this time using the student's textbook, answering questions and reading passages in the book and translating them into English. His biggest problem is still retention of vocabulary, but he is improving with every session. He maintains a good attitude. His extra practice this weekend was to write a small story (about a paragraph long) about a waiter that came up in one of the sentences he wrote Saturday morning. It takes place in the past so he is to use the imperfect and preterite tenses."
"The student needed assistance studying for his Spanish 2 midterm. We reviewed many concepts during our 1.5 hours, including gustar, estar and ser uses, demonstrative adjectives, direct objects/indirect objects, and uses of tener."
"This session was an exam review. We covered gerund formation and present progressive, direct and indirect objects, basic subjunctive rules and formation in the present, verbs like gustar, and vocab. We then listened to the song No Me Importa to help the student remember how to use those verbs in the past and future."
"Today, we covered the present progressive tense. We also went over vocabulary, and there has been steady improvement with that."
"The student managed to get through his homework involving preterite and imperfect verbs and their conjugations. We also worked on some vocabulary terms and I quizzed him on them. He knew a majority pretty well."
