Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started going into the review packets for the review for the AP Exam. The student needs to review some of her integration concepts and some of the older derivative material. We will be continuing to review those concepts from the packets."
"Using the student's practice book, we talked about different test taking strategies for the SAT. We walked through problems together and I showed her some common things to look for in the math and reading sections. She also worked on her process of elimination skills."
"The student felt pretty good about the test he had after our last session. This session we worked through his quiz review. The subjects covered some fundamentals/applications of differentiation: sketching f ' (x) when given f(x), estimating derivatives, differentiability, and continuity. It was good to see that he now has a very firm grasp of chain rule and basic differentiation rules. We spent a decent part of the session reviewing the relationship between continuity and differentiability. He understands the link between the two very well, and how it leads into f(x) and f ' (x) graphs."
"Went over Biology and Algebra with the student. Needs help in Biology since she has a test on Friday. Lots of material to cover. Algebra was just homework, systems programming. Was able to understand the material for Algebra."
"I started off by having the student introduce herself to me. She mentioned that she had issues with sentence completion, so I taught her the strategy for sentence completion first, and we practiced 10 problems (5 together with my guidance, and 5 on her own). After teaching her a detailed reading comprehension strategy, we went over 2 reading passages (one difficult long one and a medium-sized middle-level one). We also discussed a list of roots that I sent her, agreeing to drill them every week."
