Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Developed consumer theory from the principles of budget and utility to the market demand function. Developed producer theory from the profit equation to the market supply function. Illustrated basic features of the producer's cost function. Worked old test items in constructing individual demand and supply functions."
"For this tutoring session, the student and I reviewed the math problems I had asked her to do on her own. She answered a few incorrectly, however, they were due to simple mistakes. For the most part, she was able to then re-answer these questions with little to no intervention from me. We reviewed reading as well, which she was able to complete in time. We also went over verbal analogies. She had a technique that worked well for her, but I provided her with another one in which she identifies the type of analogy being presented. She expressed preference for this technique and was able to employ both her old and the new one to answer each question."
"The two students and I had a very productive session today. We reviewed problems over the complex math topics in the test book, and I also formulated several harder problems to test their knowledge and attempt to "stump" them. Overall they did very well. I have asked them both to complete a total of four practice math sections which we will review next time."
"The student and I worked on worksheets like the ones she does in school to practice comprehension and writing skills. We also did some vocabulary practice. She continues to improve at sounding out some of the harder words."
"We worked on cell diagrams and a sheet on amoebas. We both answered questions and labeled a couple diagrams. I helped the student pronounce words he didn't know and find the answers in a passage his teacher gave him."
"We went through and evaluated the various options among the three financial institutions. I showed the student how to make a comparison table in Excel for key consideration factors that he prioritized and how to present the table in a professional way in his write-up. We compared interest rates, account fees, customer service, and other factors, leading him to pick his bank and write up his reasoning."
