"The student and I looked at factoring long polynomials and eliminating like polynomials, as well as addition and subtraction of long polynomial fractions. I showed him a pattern to solving these kinds of problems. With practice, I believe that he will do well in this section."
"The student and I prepared for an upcoming test. We worked on solving the quadratic equations, describing translated graphs, and determining the domain and range for graphs. I feel that he has a good grasp on finding the domain and range for graphs. I noticed that he seemed to not reduce his answers to the simplest form, which may result in point deductions on quizzes and tests. I recommended to him that after solving a problem, to remember always see if his answers that can be reduced even more."
"I covered constructing linear equations with points provided and the slope-intercept form of line equation. I showed how to generalize finding the equation passing through a given population of points. We then covered finding polynomial roots, the Remainder Theorem, Factorization Theorem, and Rational Zero Theorem. The student correctly used synthetic division. We discussed methods to check the answer and organizing the problem solving process. I would encourage him to practice the problems in order to get down organization of the solution process and avoid errors unrelated to comprehension. The student had a good, but beginning grasp of the material. The grasp and confidence will be strengthened with a bit more practice."
"Today's central concepts were simplifying radical expressions and rationalizing the denominator of radical expressions. The student was receptive to all the material presented. He needed a bit of coaching, but gathered steam as we proceeded."
"The student finished her entire test review today on factoring, solving absolute value, linear inequalities, linear equations, and slope word problems. She is a very quick learner. I suggested that she go over the review at least two more times without looking back at her notes in order to prepare for her upcoming test."
"The student and I went over tonicity, and the physics application of derivatives. He grasped the concept well at the end. I left him with a summary of notes of the main concepts for different types of derivative applications. Hopefully, he goes over it and masters the core concepts of derivatives."
