"Today we covered Boyle's law, Gay-Lussac's law, Avogadro's law, the combined gas law, ideal/real gases, and the ideal gas law equation. Both of the students displayed a great understanding of the material and were able to solve all the mathematical problems. They also understood conceptually how pressure, volume, and temperature are all related. They said the hardest part would be to remember which variables are held constant in each of the laws, but spending some time studying will solve that issue. I suggested they memorize the combined gas law and cross out variables that are held constant or not given. That way, they can just memorize one equation instead of multiple ones. We did some practice problems on the internet and they completed them successfully. They both informed me that they did well on their previous exam. They should get similar, if not better, results on this next exam."
"The student and I studied for her upcoming Chemistry test. I was able to answer several conceptual questions she had. We then went over the naming schemes for ionic and molecular compounds and did a bunch of practice problem. She has a good understanding of the material."
"Today we went through the population ecology chapter, and started on the community ecology chapter. We went through the chapter assessment for population ecology and the student seemed to have a good grasp of the material."
