Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered problems for her upcoming exam on quadratic properties and equations. I feel confident in her performance because she understands every step. Toward the end of the session, we covered SAT math concepts."
"The student and I reviewed the properties of angles and lines and making proof tables for an upcoming quiz. He mentioned that he had a bit of difficulty in identifying what properties were being used for congruent statements, such as reflexive, symmetric, and transitive properties. We went over these problems from the workbook and worksheets he had from school. I also noticed that he did not have the textbook for his class due to school policy on taking out textbooks without special permission, but he would do so from his teacher for our next session. So far, the student is doing very well with understanding the work and staying focused on what he needs to know. I have no other concerns from this session."
"The student and I went over his chapter 3 test - the questions that he got incorrect. Additionally, we went over his new material over proving triangles ASA (angle side angle) and AAS (angle angle side)."
"We worked on his homework problems that he wasn't sure how to do. Then we spent the rest of the time looking at theorems he would be learning this week and similar triangles. We worked on several different sample problems of similar triangles that were over lapping."
"The student had a quiz yesterday, so we reviewed the triangle-center concepts from last time, providing extra explanations to help him retain the concepts. We also reviewed slopes and midpoints to prepare him for upcoming lessons."
"Today we reviewed a little geometry and chemistry. In chemistry, we performed some homework problems that dealt with Boyle's Law. He had no issues with those problems. Next we studied for his geometry test on Friday. We reviewed his homework packet that got back. I re-quizzed him over each question that he had problems with in the past. He didn't do too bad. He had problems with some of the supplementary questions. We reviewed those several times. I even had him write some notes on his homework pages to help him review it when he studies the material."
"The student will have his exam in Geometry on Tuesday next week. We review the theorems in parallel lines and slope of parallel and perpendicular lines. Most of the session was answering the chapter problems which half of it was also his homework for tomorrow. He made a summary of all the theorems that I advised him to read everyday so he can gradually memorize/remember them for the exam on Tuesday."
"During this session, the student and I primarily worked over geometry problems. She was mainly struggling over problems because of the rules and postulates, but not from executing the math and algebra. No additional practice was assigned beyond the review of the postulates we covered. I have no concerns to report from this session."
"Review proving lines parallel using angle relationships. Went thru practice problems from book and ones I provided. Also, used teacher examples to further practice. The student still feels a little uneasy with the proofs. I think he understands the concept, but struggles to see it applied in a proof. Recommended continued practice and to review past proofs that we have completed to get more comfortable."
"I assisted the student with his geometry review. He has a test coming up soon and needed help studying for it. We covered syllogisms, conditional statements and properties of equality. He understood the problems after I gave him examples to help him out."
"We covered some geometry problems the student had as a review for her test. She understood just about everything. She will do well on her test."
"The student began learning about different types of triangles and the relationship between the 3 angles, classifying them. She did very well with solving for angles of any triangle, grasps the concept well. She still struggles with seeing a linear pair and solving for the supplementary angle when given the angle outside of the triangle. We also covered chemistry material, they are learning about pH, acids and bases, and neutralization of reactions. I plan to bring some extra material on acids and bases next session to help her in chemistry."
