Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Physics: reviewed a worksheet discussing static electricity. Worked with the student through problems about inducing charge and how other (like and opposite) charged materials would react and predicting the resultant force due to changes in distance. She had a strong grasp of concepts especially how distance and charge relate to the electric force, and was able to predict resulting action of charged materials in various scenarios. Algebra: Was informed she had a test on Friday that she felt went well, no new material to review so we started on new material to be covered next week. Introduced her to finding asymptotes of functions on graphs; how to use exponents and coefficients to predict and solve for asymptotes and using the denominators of functions to find their zero/vertical asymptote. Worked through book problems with her having little trouble solving for asymptotes and using graphs to pick corresponding functions; also worked on finding zeros of rational functions which she was quite successful in doing."
"We covered chi square tests, Punnett squares and overall basic genetics inheritance patterns. He seems moderately comfortable with the topics but, he needs to work on them a little more. I told him to go over his PowerPoint and practice the different types of genetics scenarios. I did not see any grades at this time, but he will have a test on Monday on the topics we covered today."
"The student and I reviewed for her upcoming test on the second section of Unit 8. It consists of content we have covered several times during tutoring sessions, and she has demonstrated proficiency with the material. We reviewed periodic trends and electron configurations, and she was quick to remember the principles that she had previously demonstrated mastery of. I am confident that she will be able to score well on her test on Monday, and combined with an additional extra credit assignment her teacher has not yet graded/entered in the system should bring up her overall grade for the course for this marking period."
