Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued working on the second half of her algebra review. We also discussed test taking strategies for her exam tomorrow."
"I am very happy to say that the student went up 20 points on her last math test. She seemed pleased about that. We continue to work on her homework page each week, which is on metric measurement at this time. After homework we went to work on class assignments that she needs extra help on. She is doing well and getting better with her two digit multiplication along with her multiplication facts."
"Excellent session with both students. The first student began with a review of decimals and the terms for each place held by individual digits in a decimal number. He went online and worked on some word problems that asked him to identify the place of certain digits. He also worked on problems that introduce the concept of greatest common factor. The website gave him a number and asked him to identify factors of that number out of a selection of approximately 20 numbers. The questions were done in the form of word problems and included time and currency as the subject matters. The second student's session involved statistics. We began with reviewing the vocabulary sheet for which he wrote out the definitions for average, first quartile, interquartile range, measures of center, measures of variation, media , mode, outliers, quartiles, range and third quartile. In addition, he worked on word problems on the website. He was given a set of data and asked to identify the lower quartile, upper quartile, median, the mode and the interquartile range. He excelled during the session and is confident of his work."
"The student does well with her two times tables. We set up practice sheets for her other times tables."
"The student and I started the lesson by working on his Math homework, making two graphs to correspond with tables and word problems in his workbook. I helped him set up the tables, and once that was done, he filled in the graphs on his own. He finished that page of math homework, which took about the first half of the lesson. We then did Spelling and vocab review (both of which he breezed through pretty easily), and we finished up by reviewing his US Geography. We went through around 35 states. He is strong with identifying states."
"During this session, the student and I first went over her math homework, which was adding and subtracting mixed numbers. After her homework, I introduced her to an online learning site. I had her sign up and practice math questions on the website. I told her to try to practice a little every day."
