Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued to go through the student's end of chapter tests on polynomials, and further moved forward with the homework's on simplifying and solving rational expressions and equations."
"Student R has a one-paragraph paper due about how to do something. She chose "How to go on a Ski Trip." She made an outline, then wrote the paper. Afterward, we worked on her algebra. She had to determine degree and type of polynomial. Student C is working on inequalities in one variable. She also worked on compound inequalities, and I assigned problems of solving compound inequalities."
"Covered first three chapters of algebra 1. Student is preparing for a placement test. Thus far, excellent grasp of material and great work ethic."
"The student has an exam tomorrow, so we reviewed the material she is responsible for. We spent most of our time on rational zeroes and the fundamental theorem of algebra, but we also reviewed the remainder theorem, factor theorem, and long division of polynomials. The student had a few issues with the long division, but we reviewed it extensively, and I left worksheets with answers in case she wanted to do any more on her own. She just had to remember not to leave out parts of the quotient. We also had to briefly review imaginary numbers with exponents. Overall, the student was very comfortable with all the topics that will be covered on the exam by the end of the session, and I am confident that she will get an excellent (if not perfect) grade."
"We covered factoring and using the zero-product rule to help graph the quadratic. The student isn't struggling too much with any of it. She has a good attitude and works hard. I introduced her to a new strategy to help speed up difficult factoring problems. She has more practice and homework to work on from her class."
"Today the student and I went over the factoring sheet from class. We only did the right side, which was her homework, and it went pretty well! We went through all the problems. The only issues the student had were with checking her work. All the little slip ups can easily be solved by checking your work, especially factoring problems, so I made sure to impress upon her the importance of doing so. Other than that she did a stellar job!"
