"The student and I worked on some English homework he had (writing about immigrants and their experiences coming to America). The student had no issue critically analyzing the piece and gleaning the pertinent info, but he did have some trouble delving deeper into the writing for symbols, meaning, etc. That's understandable, so I taught him some techniques that helped me when I was in middle school (detail, rereading, etc.). Finally, I gave the student a speed writing test where he had 10 minutes to write an essay arguing for and against closing school early. The student did incredibly well with this assignment and his writing has vastly improved since we began working together."
"The student and I focused on one major theme and followed it throughout a small portion of the text. We analyzed characters' actions in the current portion and compared them to their previous actions to see how they had changed. Then, we wrote a few deeply analytical paragraphs in proper "T-A-E-R" paragraph structure analyzing that theme."
"Today I corrected the student's vocabulary sentences. We created a flow map for her Greek Myth assignment and drafted her first paragraph. We also rewrote her thesis for her religion paper and brainstormed the body of her paper."
