Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over the math section in detail. We identified a few areas including factorials and percentages. We also worked on some grammar from the writing section. The student needs to continue reviewing her vocabulary words from the previous sessions but she is showing improvement. I asked her to complete a full length practice test before the next session so we can see her improvement and what areas we need to focus on."
"Our introductory meeting was for two hours. After a brief discussion of goals, we zeroed in on math. We went over nearly an entire practice test. In future sessions we should cover trig and geometry problems, some topics in algebra, percents and ratios, probability and chance. We will also begin to review verbal and writing sections of the exam. The student was very bright and seemed motivated. I left sections of a practice exam -- will send several math sections to reference this week."
"We focused primarily on the reading section this time, going over passage types (detail, primary purpose, imply/infer, dual passages, and more). She handled these very well, only erring on some of the more difficult vocabulary. Timing seems not to be an issue, and as she continues to practice these on her own, she will be even more prepared for the actual test. We topped things off with a writing section, where again she did well, only missing some of the most subtle errors. I recommended that she at least do a practice section from each of the three types (math, reading, and writing) and to do it timed so that she can get a feel for the pacing."
