Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session we prepared for the student's midterm exam that is this week. We reviewed several chapters worth of material and went over her midterm review sheet. She understands the concepts well."
"We went over graphing functions and symmetry, and then started projectile motion in her physics homework."
"Comprehensive questions asking for domain, range, intercepts, end behavior, continuity, and where the functions are increasing and decreasing. Negative exponents."
"We worked on vectors. First we worked on graphically adding and multiplying vectors. Then, we worked on defining vectors in component using orthogonal unit vectors, rectangular, and polar coordinates. We also went over dot product of vectors and calculating the angle between two vectors."
"The student is learning about how to use vectors to express an equation of a line, and had some questions on her homework. We went over the concepts from the classwork plus additional perspectives I talked to her about, then worked on the homework problems step by step to explain those concepts. It was a struggle at first, but by the end of the session it seemed she was really understanding it and felt confident she was getting a strong grasp on the ideas. Overall, it was a great session."
"The student needed help for his pre-calculus exam, which covered a few topics, from exponents and logarithms to half lives and calculations of interest rates and trigonometry. We did a fair review of all the topics and had time to visit a question in each topic. The student's midterm was later on that day, so we made sure to cover the main identities and theorems. Usually, we work on Physics mainly, but given that the student wanted help before his exam, we did what we could. It is clear that the student would need tutoring in both Math and Physics, because the pace of both class is quite fast, with many topics not discussed in depth in class, but expected to be known well for exams."
