"We went over the definitions for the Taylor series. We did a couple of practice problems using the Taylor series to approximate a polynomial."
"We went over limits of rational expressions and their respective graphs. I showed him the basics of identifying asymptotes and how to apply them to graphs. The student did great!"
"The student got her test back and did extremely well. She was very happy about it. We then covered related rates problems. By the end, she was really getting the hang of them. She is in very good shape and is staying on top of the course material very well."
"We finished the overview of all the relationships between decimals, fractions, percentages, and ratios. We then reviewed multiplying and dividing by decimals, probability, and angles formed by intersecting parallel lines. The student's attitude was great, as usual. I discussed how these mathematical concepts are applied in later math and science classes so that she will have a sneak preview while learning the basics. I left her with some optional extra practice exercise. A very fun session. She has nothing to worry about for 5th grade math!"
"We went over how to name and measure angles. We talked about all the different ways to name them from naming angles per their vertices to naming angles per the type that they are. We talked about how to use a protractor to measure an angle that starts both at zero and at another angle. We reviewed what a complementary and supplementary angle meant and how to tell them apart as well as what a straight angle is. The student seems to be really excited about this year and is sporting a good attitude towards math."
"The student was very focused today when she continued with her summer homework. She completed some word problems that were more advanced than what she was working on last year. She remembered that the decimal place must be lined up in addition and subtraction of integers."
