Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through and reviewed the student's homework on radical functions and moved onto plotting graphs. We then moved onto inverse functions and plotting these graphs also."
"The student worked on solving linear equations and we also investigated absolute value. We will revisit fractions percents and decimals at the next session, and start on 3a and 3b summer work."
"Today we began learning about distributing using the FOIL method and how to factor simple polynomials."
"I first helped the student prepare for his quiz tomorrow. Then I reviewed with him a quiz that he had done before and he re-solved the incorrect questions in it. Afterwards I reviewed the homework that I had given him and helped him understand his mistakes. Lastly I covered with him the topics that he is currently studying at school. He has shown a lot of improvement and is taking a lot of interest in math."
"During this session, an algebra 2 homework packet was completed covering word problems. Additionally, in chemistry, solubility rules and creating/ balancing net ionic equations were reviewed by completing a portion of the next day's assigned homework worksheet."
"Good session! The student had his homework prepared for review during the time we were together. He had a quiz on Wednesday, and today was an introduction to inverse variations. He has a good understanding of the graphical depiction and feels confident he can identify that. We reviewed the formulas, and he understands how to find the constant of variation; however, I want to encourage him to take his time and follow the process first. Also, while he seems to understand the graphical and equation portions, I don't believe he completely understands the purpose of inverse variations and the study of the relationship of two variables as they affect each other. He was able to finish more than half of his homework, as well as ensured we addressed a problem in each problem set."
