Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is working with polynomial equations. We went over finding possible roots, using a root with synthetic division to determine remaining roots, and given the roots (real, irrational, or imaginary), determining the polynomial equation. She completed her homework assignments, and she has a very good understanding of the concept. She has a test next Wednesday on Chapter 4. If during her review she finds questions, she knows she can contact me for help."
"We studied for the student's math test. We did a review of the problems from the book, and I also created additional practice problems. The student needed some review on the rules for addition and subtraction with negative and positive numbers."
"It was a pleasure working with the student today. He is a smart student who showed a great deal of motivation throughout our meeting. We started our lesson right away, and I helped him solve 18 questions on the Odyssey. He quickly grasped the concept of solving functions and combining two separate functions. In addition, he graphed functions by completing a table. He showed great concentration and worked very hard. I am very pleased with his attitude and his improvement on the knowledge."
"The student and I split our time today between studying for his next math test and working through his science homework. He is doing very well in math right now, so I have been allowing flexibility to work on other subjects, especially science since he is struggling with it right now. He still has some studying to do for the upcoming math test, but by the end of our session, he was pretty comfortable with all of the material. We decided to focus more on math moving forward as he starts to encounter new material."
"We used this session to cover chapter 2 in the student's textbook, in which she has a quiz on coming up. This included negative numbers, number lines, inequalities, and word problems. We worked through a few of these and looked for common mistakes to watch out for."
"We reviewed 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication. The girls understand the concept; however, they need practice double checking their work. Our main focus for this week and the rest of our time together is word problems. They understand the basic math concepts. They are having difficulty with picking out the important information in the problem. We practiced with several problems, and they were given some time to reflect on what worked and what did not work. They also received homework."
