"We reviewed multiple choice problems for the AP exam. He did well for the most part. I think he is at about a 3 level for the AP exam. If he thinks harder and doesn't give up on problems, I think he can get a 4."
"We went through the mistakes that she had in the 3 exams that she had taken throughout the course. She was comfortable in a majority of the topics and concepts and needed a little help better understanding the process of solving some of the problems. She was a very fast learner and fully and rapidly comprehended the topics covered during the session."
"We continued working on geometry and addition of positive and negative integers. Again we focused on word problems and how to approach them. The student is definitely getting more comfortable with these topics, and I am happy to see him improve on some logical reasoning skills when assessing how to approach a problem. While transitioning between topics, he sparked conversation about hobbies, which we connected on. I can tell he is getting more comfortable with me, which is a big win on my side. I think I have found that his biggest problem is rushing and not checking over his work. He does well when not under pressure, but on assessments he seems to either rush and/ or be too sure in his work, causing lots of little mistakes that are costing him dearly in points. I will come up with a system to address this, perhaps with the assistance of his family."
"We worked on finishing her algebra. The student is very intelligent. In our previous sessions I caught her up on factoring, and tonight she finished her homework by herself in large part because she knew what she was doing. She may need a little more time to understand difficult concepts as she is in an accelerated course, but once she understands she is very receptive to doing her homework. She also finished her Earth Science practice exam. I looked it over, determined which problems she had no idea how to complete, correlated them to the appropriate chapters in the book, and will begin going back over those specific chapters when we meet in the future."
"In this session, I was asked to help the student start preparing for his final exam, which is three weeks away. I began by looking at the book and having him work 2-3 problems from the important sections. I made a list of the sections that he had a little trouble remembering, or forgot certain details in, so that he and his father knew what to focus on. I will continue this process next time we meet, so that the student will have a good idea of what he needs to work on to do well on the final."
"We worked on logarithmic equations, calculating inverse functions, calculating domain and range of function and its inverse, compound and continuous compound interest, derivatives of a function using the limit definition."
