Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student continues working on phrases that he will use and need on his upcoming trip. I reviewed them to make sure they were correct, then helped him practice. He dictated a paragraph he wanted to use, which I translated for him. He is learning very quickly and well!!"
"We spent the majority of our time reviewing for the student's Spanish exam. He understood the concepts well, and just needs to make sure he reviews before the test. He was also able to finish up his English paper outline and first two paragraphs."
"The student indicated they started working on directions in class. We spent the first half hour reviewing directions, how to give directions, and how to make statements and ask directions. The second half of the class we put more emphasis into speaking. We began to have dialogue in Spanish using all of the verb tenses she has learned. I then had her speak to me in Spanish about anything she wanted. She told me a story about her cat and I voice recorded her story. I then played the recording back for her so she could hear herself, catch any mistakes and we went over those together. She really seemed to like this method and I could see on her face during replay when she would recognize that she had made a mistake. Most times she was able to correct her own mistakes which was awesome!"
"In today's session we covered the ser and estar verbs and the difference between the two, and how to use them. We also covered vocabulary for objects in the house. The student was doing well remembering vocabulary. Pictures were used to help with memory. Extra work was left for him to do for homework."
"Today, we focused on studying for the student's upcoming Spanish quiz about discussing school, classes, and the classroom environment. Before reviewing the material that would be on the quiz, we did a quick review of pronouns and the conjugations of ser. For the review, we covered a variety of adjectives to describe classes, words for the various types of classes, descriptions of one's schedule, and a few helpful conjunctions and question words. His pronunciation is good, but he needs to work on sight reading longer words (that is, avoiding resorting to sounding the word out syllable by syllable). He also needs to heavily review his pronouns and what they each mean, and this is something that we can tackle in future sessions."
"The student did very well today in our session. I was glad to hear that he did really well on his last exam. He said our sessions really helped him do well. This session we went over his quiz and answered his questions and he also completed his pending homework assignments."
