Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered number properties, quantitative comparison and algebra. The student has a very solid foundation in the math; he just needs to be reminded of some of the specifics and then to practice their applications."
"We covered the verbal section of the GRE this session. We have noticed an improvement in the quantitative section. We covered reading comprehension and some verbal practice questions. We discussed how the process of elimination can be very helpful and to take notes while reading."
"The student and I covered a few DS questions from her homework that she had difficulty with. We then turned to Yes/No DS and the plugging in numbers strategy for algebra. We also covered the first hidden plug ins question. Next session, we will continue with algebra strategies. I assigned DS 2 and PS 1 for homework."
"The student did some practice quizzes and needed some help with Reading Comprehension. We discussed only reading what is necessary to answer the question presented. We also reviewed some Critical Reasoning questions and looked at fallacies. She is taking a practice test for homework."
"Since we last met, the student has been reviewing the GMAT prep test she took to prepare for our last session, using some of the techniques and concepts we discussed to determine why she got questions right or wrong. She brought several of those questions that she still was uncertain of to our session today, and we worked through them together, using them to also create a list of content areas the test requires knowledge of. This allowed us to discuss a variety of concepts, including probability, remainders, the difference of two squares, and coordinate geometry. Before our next session, she's going to finish the test review then proceed on to do the introduction, data sufficiency, and problem solving chapters in her prep book. She'll also do 20 questions of both data sufficiency and problem solving."
"We did mainly IR today. Remember, plan on answering (actually taking the time to figure out) only 10 out of the 12 questions. If you got even 6 of these correct, you will probably get a 5/8 score, which is absolutely fine for most admissions councils. Good luck tomorrow!! It has been a pleasure working with you."
