Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the Science section of the ACT. We used the one-to-one method and relayed questions every 5 minutes. The student greatly excelled in this section."
"The student shows intelligence and aptitude for test taking. He shows good working use of process of elimination. It seems he is quite good at not dawdling on questions, so next session we will focus on active reading. He seems like a very bright student. He also needs to improve his SAT vocabulary: I had him keep a list of all the words he does not know and had him look up some of the definitions during the session; he will look up the other half of the words prior to next session. I look forward to my continued work with him to improve his SAT score."
"During this session, we finished reviewing the previous administration of the test. Again, I was happy to see how much the student had improved. She has improved substantially in math, as I have noted before. I will reiterate that I think the best strategy at this point is to continue assigning drill sections, which she should definitely complete starting this week, which will improve the speed at which she is attacking these problems. She, for the most part, understands how to answer the questions in the reading and grammar sections. She usually can identify very well which answer is correct. We addressed this by stressing that she should focus specifically on the sentences referenced on the question instead of on the material of the prompt overall. As for writing, I am hoping that having more time will allow her to be more diligent in her answers, thus causing fewer errors. After the review, we went over some SAT vocabulary."
