Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we reviewed advanced equations and properties of exponents. The student lacked the prerequisite knowledge to perform the work, but had no problems after learning it. I left her with some practice problems."
"Today was our first session, and we had a great time! Tomorrow is the student's first day of summer school, so we dove right into the first unit that his teacher will be going over involving line segments and types of angles. We established ideas for our future scheduling, and he projected that he would have a test every three days of class. I assured the student that I will make myself available as much as he needs, and most certainly on the days before each test. Our communication went rather well, and I look forward to teaching the student geometry! He was very focused and approached the formulas with a steadfast awareness."
"We chose essays for the summer reading assignment, then spent the rest of the session looking through some of the basics of geometry."
"We reviewed for the student's midterm exam. His teacher provided a review sheet, which we worked through. Material covered included matrices, absolute value, graphing inequalities, etc. We then made a 3 x 5 notecard "cheat sheet" which he will be permitted to use on his exam."
"This session, we reviewed for the student's midterm. The student had some difficulty with algebraic equations. We will continue to work on these."
"We reviewed the student's Unit 1-4 exams, with a special emphasis on midpoints, transitive and conditional properties, and reflection/ rotations. He was encouraged to review correct notations for rotations and reflections with his teacher before the final exam. Emphasis again was on using only what is given on a test question. Additional emphasis was on eliminating impossible answers on multiple choice exams."
