Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered equilibrium problems involving Q and K, Le Chatelier's Principle, and the systematic method. We also got started on reviewing acid/base problems, which he will be covering in class on Thursday. At first, he struggled with conceptual problems involving Q and K such as which direction the reaction would move to reach equilibrium. He understood these concepts by the end of the session. However, he did struggle with Le Chatelier's Principle. During the next session, we will make a chart of all the possibilities of Le Chatelier's Principle and hopefully all the different scenarios will become more understandable. He showed a willingness to learn the material including the acid/base problems which were not covered in class yet. He received his first test score and said it was more difficult than any problem he encountered in the book. We will plan the studying methods for the next test in a way that will help him be more prepared for multi-step problems."
"This session was really great! The student was very attentive and was very eager to learn. Today, she went over phase changes, including how to read/interpret them and how to make her own. We didn't get to go through word problems because the phase diagrams took so much time."
"Today was the first day I met with the student. We simply reviewed his chemistry homework. We went over chapter 6 which talks about wavelength energy and frequency as well as electron configuration. Once he could see what the problem was talking about and knew the formulas to plug the information into, everything started making sense for him. I am going to bring a sheet with formulas so he can start memorizing them."
