"We started with the student learning the O's and the P's (first list) from the vocabulary book. We went through each individual word and went back and forth on the meaning (and sometimes application). Next, he took Section 9 (Reading) of SAT Prep Test 3, finishing out the SAT Prep Test 3. We graded the section (-2/19) and went over the incorrect questions. He then took Section 3 (Math) of SAT Prep Test 4 (timed). When he was done, we graded Sections 2 and 3 of SAT Prep Test 4. For HW, he has P, M, and N for vocab; and Sections 4 and 5 of SAT Prep Test 4."
"Worked with the student on vocabulary and approaching the synonym-analogy section of the test. We looked at ways to narrow down answer choices and what to look for when focusing on how the analogies relate to each other. When she knows the words she gets every answer right, she is getting better at narrowing down choices and making educated guesses."
"Topics: economic profit vs accounting profit, profit, revenue, opportunity cost, relating all of the equations and graphs, connection of concepts. Progress: The student has been improving steadily over the sessions. He is making fewer mistakes, and seems to be able to tackle most things on his own. My role has mainly been to reinforce ideas and to fill in the gaps when he is not certain about the concepts. We will meet again this weekend, and will probably be reviewing all of the concepts from the past 5 chapters. This should be helpful at getting him to the point where he is comfortable with all of the material."
"We reviewed the assignment and discussed student strengths and weaknesses. We noted that the initial step will be to develop an outline and identify appropriate content. The comprehensive exam assignment has bullet points that specify a general outline. Student will need to bring material for an introductory exegesis on a theoretical, methodological, and ethical foundation statement, some of which can be drawn from past coursework. Theoretical discussion should be pertinent and meaningful to the clinical case which will be analyzed in the body of the paper. Clinical notes will provide the core content of the paper, which will be organized in a way that expounds upon general theoretical and methodological material chosen by the student. Also discussed was a timetable for completing the project, and mechanical questions such as email communication between tutoring sessions. Student and tutor discussed strategy for ascertaining pace and scheduling."
"I briefly introduced him to cross-products and dot products. We went over a couple of examples and moved on to applications of vectors and vector multiplication. He understood the vector and parameter form of a line quite easily."
"The student and I reviewed his reading comprehension homework. He did very well on the easy passage, and struggled a little with the more difficult one. I assigned a couple of additional passages for this week. I also assigned DS 1s and 2s for homework, as he did not have any questions from DS 1 or 2. We started sentence correction, covering the verb issues. I assigned sentence correction set 1. Next session we will pick up with pronouns."
