Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
In math class, they finished chapter 7 (probability), which we covered last session, and she said she felt pretty good about the test she took on it (and I will ask when she gets the scores back). Now her math teacher has been gone, and they are skipping chapter 8 to be on chapter 9 (sequences and series). She missed today's class, so we went over all the intro vocabulary and example steps for this chapter to introduce the concepts. A few were tricky to get the hang of, but I kept referencing real-world applications of the concepts, as well as word definitions in clear language, and asking her to do her own thinking on what things mean, and she followed very well. The beginning of the new chapter is understandably a struggle with weird new words, but she gave it her best. Once she was writing out questions and could see patterns forming in the numbers, she proceeded more strongly. Overall we got a good foundational look at sequences of numbers.
I will email her a couple videos that apply specifically to things we encountered in this chapter.
She gave me her textbook online account information so we can follow it together and I can prepare to present to her even better. From this session, I am taking home one problem to practice and be able to explain more clearly so she can also feel confident approaching it on her own.
We communicate well, and she is a delight to be with!"
